Third generation owned and operated, and long-time staple in the community, Johnny’s New Fairfield Food Center was honored last Saturday with the National Boar’s Head Market of Distinction Award. All residents were invited to attend the store’s celebration which included a pig roast, crafting an artisanal sandwich and a $1 sale of Boar’s Head Franks. All proceeds were donated to the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department.

As the first deli in Connecticut to receive this honor and one of 30 awarded nationally, Johnny’s Food Center is recognized for its outstanding customer service, its standing in the community, and the quality of products sold, including Boar’s Head Premium Deli Products. “New Fairfield Food Center has been a Boar’s Head customer for over 20 years and we are proud to welcome them to the Market of Distinction family,” said John Fee, Boar’s Head Independent Program Development Manager.

Boasting the best meat in town, Johnny’s offers specialty dishes freshly-made from favorite family recipes. The popular “Pick 5” great savings program, a variety of prepared meals and catering services, as well as a complete stock of grocery items, make for one-stop shopping. A full breakfast menu and deli sandwiches round out the list, along with personal service with a smile!

For more than four decades, through good times and bad, the Food Center has been a mainstay of local business when others have come and gone. While evolving and growing to better meet the needs of residents, owner Johnny Petrone is at the core of the family business. Together with wife Kori, son Joe and sister Vita, they’ve achieved national recognition. “My father has worked so hard over the past 40 years
building the store up; it is an honor to have such a nationally known business and brand to give us such high re
cognition within our community,” said Deli Manager, Joe Petrone.

When asked about receiving this national honor and being a long-time New Fairfield business owner, Johnny Petrone replied, “I want to thank this wonderful community for all their support; I wouldn’t want to be in business anywhere else. I would not be where I am today without the support of my amazing family and staff. It is a great honor to receive this award for doing what I love to do to support our town. Here’s to another 50 years!”
