Graduation for the NFHS seniors is literally around the corner! On Saturday, June 24th, the seniors will attend their graduation ceremony at the O’Neill Center at Western Connecticut State University. Starting at 8:45 pm the new graduates will be arriving at NFHS to attend the Post Grad Party. They will be wowed by the magnificent transformation of the halls and cafeteria into the secret chosen theme for this year.
Robin Kamps, Decorating chair, is working long hours at the “painting shed” to get the decorations ready. She could really use your help. The building, 2 Dunham Drive, was once again donated by the Santomero family. It is across from the new location of Village Hardware. Robin is usually at the shed during the week from 11 am to 9 pm. Please consider spending some time helping. You don’t need to be artistic to help. Trust me, I’ve helped for years and I still don’t know what I’m doing, yet each year the decorations are amazing!
Another way we would like your help is to volunteer the night of the party. The shifts are 8:30 pm to midnight and 11:30 pm to 3 am. There are a multitude of ways to help. Please contact Holly Smith at HZSmith46@gmail.com for the website link to sign up. As a parent of the graduate, you will love seeing the other parents and how much fun the kids are having. As a parent of a student who has yet to graduate, you get to preview how exciting the party is and how much fun the kids have. We have even had people who have volunteered when their kids graduated.
There is also still time to make donations for the goodie bags, the auctions and for the food committee. Please contact Joanne Filardo at jfilardo@charter.net for any goodie bag donation questions, Dana Zegarelli at tdcmzeg@msn.com for underclass auctions and Vanessa Shay at flypr73@yahoo.com to donate food or money for food.
The Post Grad Party is an annual tradition for the graduating class. It is a great opportunity for the community to come together at the end of the school year to provide a safe and fun way for the graduating class to celebrate. If you have any questions, please contact, Tammy Dunn at tammyleedunn@aol.com.
