On Sunday, May 30 at 1 p.m., Sherman will celebrate Memorial Day with its Annual Memorial Day Parade from Judd’s Corner (Spring Lake Road and Route 39 North) through town, with a stop to place a wreath at the Veterans Memorial in front of Old Town Hall (Senior Center), and conclude with a commemorative service at Veterans Field. This is a Rain or Shine event. We gather at Judd’s Corner at 12:15 p.m.
It is Sherman’s honorable tradition to remember and acknowledge the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces throughout America’s history, as well as those sacrifices being made by our servicemen and servicewomen today. These sacrifices guarantee that we are able to gather together for this event in freedom and safety. We invite all past and present members of our Armed Forces to participate in our parade.
Please join our Veterans, our Grand Marshal Jim Reilly, our Speaker Liz Mard, our honored guests, musical participants Al Burgasser, Ann Muoio, the Sherman School Band, the New Milford High School Band, and all of our ever faithful Sherman marchers. We will also have antique cars, tractors, and horses. As always, all floats and vehicles must meet local and state registration and insurance regulations. Please note that State Police safety guidelines preclude carrying passengers in the back of pickup trucks or towed floats. Please do not throw any trinkets or candy during the parade.
Please contact the First Selectman’s office at Mallory Town Hall with any questions, 860-355-1139.
