NEW FAIRFIELD – The Russo brothers, John, Robert and Tony, together with their cousin, Joseph Bondi, announced the opening of Froggy’s Sandwich Shop in New Fairfield last week. The four owners are excited to become part of the New Fairfield business community. This is the fourth shop owned and operated by the family.
The first Froggy’s opened in Somers, NY in 2011 and was followed by two more New York locations in Pawling and Brewster. “We’ve been busy,” said John Russo with a smile. “Each community has really welcomed us and let us know they love what we have to offer.” All four owners grew up nearby in Put Lake and many of their high school friends eventually moved to New Fairfield. Owner Tony Russo is also a New Fairfield resident. “It just feels like home,” said John. “We know so many people who live here; we knew this would be a great place, with a great community.” He went on to mention that Thomas Hogan will be managing the New Fairfield shop and that getting involved with sports, schools, and local events will be an important part of the business, once they’ve settled in.
Froggy’s specializes in serving breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The shop is open for business at 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday, at 7 a.m. on Sunday, and closes every day at 4 p.m. Their top priority is to give customers great food without the wait. “Our philosophy is ‘less is more.’ We strive to be the best at what we do, rather than trying to do more and have it be mediocre,” John explained. “We are family guys. We tell our employees, when 4 o’clock comes, let’s close up shop—it’s time to head home to our families.”
WHAT’S ON THE MENU: Breakfast includes a choice of 10 breakfast sandwich specials as well as NY-style bacon, egg and cheeses, omelets, wraps and egg white options. Fresh orange juice and local roasted coffee from “Coffee Labs” is always available. Breakfast is served all day. Lunch includes 17 varieties of specialty sandwiches and 6 fresh salad options, served daily. Grilled chicken and chicken cutlets are always fresh and never frozen. Grill closes 30 minutes prior to store closing. Catering and custom specials, such as 3 to 6 ft. wedges and wrap platters, are always available.
Froggy’s is located at 9 Brush Hill Rd. in New Fairfield, across from Town Hall and next to the Post Office. Order prior to pick-up is available at Froggysdeli.com. Open 7 days a week: Mon-Sat 6am-4pm and Sun 7am-4pm. Delivery is available through Slicelife.com.
A grand opening celebration is planned for Friday, August 27. Details to follow in next week’s Town Tribune!
