At the Wednesday, June 11, New Fairfield Board of Selectmen (BOS) meeting, there was another discussion regarding budget transfers, following a similar pattern to recent meetings. The transfers came out of the Police Department Resident Sergeant and Other Resident Troopers’ lines, which both had significant amounts of money left as the Town nears the end of the fiscal year.
Selectman Ms. Pat Del Monaco pointed out “It seems like that was a big overestimation on the Resident Sergeant,” to which Town Finance Director Mr. Adam Lawrence responded, “yes, we were left with $46,000,” going on to share, “we never know what that looks like.” The funds were transferred into a handful of line items, including Legal and Other General Services.
Del Monaco asked for an explanation for the legal transfer, which First Selectman Ms. Melissa Lindsey explained was “to cover the invoices upcoming for May and June.” She was questioned again about why more of the legal fees that the Town is incurring are not falling under the counsel’s retainer.
BOS members voted to approve new qualified depositories of the town of New Fairfield. Town Treasurer Ms. Terry Friedman requested the following institutions be made qualified depositories of the Town: Union Savings Bank; Ives Bank, formerly Savings Bank of Danbury, Multi-Bank Securities, State of Connecticut Short-Term Investment Fund, Stone Castle, Waterbury Connecticut Teachers Federal Credit Union, Webster Bank, Webster Private Bank, and US Bank.
BOS members also approved the appointment of Mr. Andrew Rogers as an alternate member of the Conservation Inlands-Wetland and the reappointment of Ms. Ann Brown to the same group. Additionally, Brown was appointed to the Water Pollution Control Authority.
