May is a busy month in New Fairfield. The Library, Senior Center and Parks and Recreation have many events and activities for all age groups – join us for some fun!
The Friends of the Library will be holding their annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 11 from 10AM until 2 PM on the Library grounds, rain or shine. The Library will also be offering assistance with ancestry research through the Genealogy program offered on May 22. “The Sweet History of Honey and Honey Tasting” will also be held on May 22. The Senior Center is also offering many special programs in May, including The Women’s Book Club on May 9 and 16, a Wreath Making class on Monday, May 13, Haircuts by Linda on May 14, Mr. Fix It on May 14, a Blue Apron Cooking Demo on May 21 and Outsmart the Scammers on May 23. The Senior Center is also offering two programs dedicated to Foot Care, the first on May 15 with a visit from Dr. Betzchart. By appointment, you may see the doctor for assessment and basic foot care. This service is covered by Medicare, and cash visits are also available for those without insurance. Kim Stewart will be available for Foot Reflexology appointments on May 31. The Caregivers Support Group will meet on May 18 at 10:00, led by Maureen Salerno LCSW. Do these events interest you? In addition to Summer Camp, Swim Team and Swim Lessons, Park and Rec has many summer activities and events planned for kids and adults as well. Special Events begin with Sip & Stroll on Saturday, May 18 from 1 – 4. Join us for a stroll through town, and see all that our small businesses have to offer! The first outdoor cinema presentation “Transylvania 2” will be held on June 21, followed by free concerts on Memorial Field beginning in late June. You can also register for Tone & Flow Yoga, Landscape Painting on the Beach with artist Betty Anne Madeiros, Quickstart Tennis and Co-Ed Flag Football League for Kids.
