Visit New Fairfield’s Annual Town Fair, scheduled for Saturday, September 27, noon to 4:30 p.m. on Memorial Field—behind Town Hall. The New Fairfield Parks & Recreation Department (“Parks & Recreation ”) is ready to welcome residents of all ages for an afternoon filled with fun, information gathering, entertainment, and socializing with your neighbors. The Not Sorry Band and Animal Embassy will perform throughout the day.
You will have the chance to stop and chat with over fifty local businesses, craft vendors, and organizations, plus Town Boards and Committees will offer booths at the Town Fair. At some booths, there will be an added surprise in the form of exciting games, cool crafts, and giveaways.
Children can also see New Fairfield’s fire trucks and other equipment up close at the Memorial Field Parking Lot. On lower Memorial Field; Fair Day goers can take part in a foam party and inflatable axe throw, along with cornhole games, plus taekwondo sessions, and demonstrations by Candlewood Amateur HAM Radio. Local Boy and Girl Scout troops will be happy to meet potential new members.
If shopping is on the agenda, check out the lovely items that will be available from vendors: candles, beauty products, jewelry, and more. You can also grab a beverage, lunch or an early supper from Twins BBQ Mobile Beer & Wine Tap Room, Moonlight Mobile Kitchen, Schlemdogs, Nomad Bites, plus get dessert from Jesse’s Novelty Ice Cream.
Parks & Recreation has steadily worked on this event since last year’s Town Fair Day. There are multitudes of phone calls, emails, and forms to fill out, but it all comes together in the end. They work closely with the Town’s Public Works Department and local firemen and police to coordinate large events like this one.
Parks & Recreation sustains itself through its program offerings and is not part of the tax structure of the Town. Free events, such as summer concerts, the annual boat and holiday light parades, Santa’s Workshop along with the tree lighting, and this Town Fair, are funded by programming. Parks & Recreation is also grateful for this year’s Town Fair sponsors: New Fairfield Animal Hospital, New Fairfield Democratic Town Committee, and Union Savings Bank.
Parks & Recreation Director Linda Lull says, “We are hoping for nice weather. You won’t want to miss the band, animal presentations, foam party, inflatable axe throw, cornhole games, or visiting any of the vendor booths. There is something for everyone!” Come on out Saturday, September 27, 12:00-4:30 p.m. and enjoy the Fair! A rain date is set for Sunday, September 28, with the same timing.
