At their Tuesday, August 6 meeting, New Fairfield’s Housing Opportunities Committee spent time planning their presentation for the Board of Selectmen meeting, which was to occur later in the week. The plans included providing updates on areas that changed within the draft Affordable Housing Plan for New Fairfield.
Chair Ms. Anita Brown hopes to have an approved hou sing plan incorporated into the Ten-Year Plan of Conservation and Development that the Planning and Development Commission will review at a Monday, September 9 meeting. She noted that the meeting will provide the opportunity for public comments.
Committee members also discussed future outreach at length, centering on the upcoming annual New Fairfield Day, which is set for Saturday, September 7. They plan to provide an updated fact sheet to distribute at NF Day and other future events. The sheet will include photos of attractive affordable housing that was built in similar towns. They will also plan to provide information about the New Fairfield Housing Trust, with whom they have partnered closely over the summer to plan for outreach regarding housing options for New Fairfield residents.
The next regular Housing Opportunities Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 7:30 p.m.
