Calling all little costumed Halloween fans! New Fairfield’s Parks & Recreation invites you to the annual Tricks & Treats Fest in the town center, tomorrow, Friday, October 25, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. With over forty businesses in New Fairfield taking part, the evening is sure to delight!
First, pick up a Trick or Treat bag, a map, and treat #1 from First Selectman Melissa Lindsey at Town Hall. Then, follow the map to each business—located in all shopping plazas in the center of town —collecting goodies along the way. If you are near the New Fairfield Library at 5:00 p.m., be treated to a perfo rmance of the Thriller routine by Legacy Dance Center’s performers.
Parks & Recreation staff begin planning this event in January and work throughout the year to bring it to fruition. “Months of planning and obtaining volunteer organizations and businesses are among the first steps to organizing this large event,” Director L inda Lull explained.
Lull said that safety is priority one in the event’s planning and there will be officers from the New Fairfield Police Department, New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department members, and the New Fairfield Public Works staff on-hand to assist families. She stressed, “we ask families to cross the road where New Fairfield Police Officers and Public Works staff members are stationed.”
Photo opportunities will abound for all the costumed kiddos. Look for scarecrows, Halloween inflatables, and cut-out decorations. “We look forward to seeing all the families in costumes,” Lull remarked, “Every year we are in awe of the creative costume’s families are decked out in. From homemade to store bought, families put a lot of effort into making the Tricks & Treats Fest fun and unforgett able.”
