New Fairfield’s Parks & Recreation Department has crafted an entertaining evening for this year’s annual Sip & Stroll on Saturday, May 20. A favorite adult event in town since 2018, Sip & Stroll offers the chance for residents to learn more about the businesses in town, visit their favorite shops, and chat with fellow strollers. With over 35 stops, the evening will be a lively one with delicious drinks and treats at each location.
A popular event, Parks & Recreation Director Ms. Linda Lull recommends purchasing your wine glass—essentially your ticket—as soon as possible, noting there is a high sell-out risk. “Glasses are selling quickly. There is a limited amount of glasses available,” Lull emphasized. The event is $30 per person when you register ahead, or $35 on the day of the event. You can pre-register online at Parksandrec.newfairfield.org or call 203-312-5633. On the day of the event, strollers will pick up their glass and map from New Fairfield Town Hall from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. With no set order, participants can choose the direction they would like to follow from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The band “Snake Dog” will be performing outside of Town Hall to help kick-off this event.
Lull opined, “The Sip & Stroll is a wonderful opportunity for new and existing residents to stroll along the sidewalks through Town, and discover all that New Fairfield has to offer.” She went on to say, “There are so many hidden gems in Town new and existing businesses that even residents who have lived here are unaware of. This is a great way to also meet some of your neighbors, community members, and organizations.” Many residents have attended the Sip & Stroll every year and enjoy visiting all local businesses and discovering new ones.
Lull explained that business owners are enthusiastic about meeting new customers, as well as catching up with community members. She told a charming story, “One of the dental offices told us some former teenage patients, who are now grown up (over 21), stopped in their office for the stroll.”
The Parks & Recreation Department is just getting started, with a host of enjoyable summer offerings and registration is ongoing for programs and camps. June 15 is the kick-off of the beloved Thursday FREE Summer Concert Series on Memorial Field from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The local band On the Road Again will be first in the line-up of band performances. Check the Town Tribune for the schedule of other bands, including: The Choir Boys, The Chase Band, and Split Decision.
