The holidays are nearly upon us, and there’s a good amount of shopping ahead. Fortunately, there are some wonderful options for gifts and treats right in our backyard with The Christmas Cottage at 84 Route 37 in New Fairfield. A seasonal extension of The Mail Drop, the Cottage is chock full of sugar, spice, and everything nice.
While The Mail Drop, at 1 Brush Hill Road, has wonderful items for sale, especially toys, that fit the bill for the holidays, birthdays, and more, the store’s smaller footprint mandates a more limited stock, while The Christmas Cottage truly pulls out all of the stops for festive shopping.Gather goodies to decorate the house, including nutcrackers, ornaments, and linens. Plus, find classic nativity sets, fun advent calendars, and cozy blankets.
Head to The Christmas Cottage for comfy outerwear, such as gloves and hats, and for lounge-around-the-house gear like robes and warm wraps—all of which would double as a great gift. Discover so many more exciting ideas, from mindful hostess gifts and lovely jewelry to cute mugs and favorite candle scents. Plus, pick up gift bags and wrapping paper to boot.
While the Cottage carries an array of children’s toys and books, the main toy shop for Christmas will be at The Mail Drop location. Toddlers can experience a ride-on train, a ball pit, and a play house in the store. For older children, there is a floor piano and a Nerf target practice station. And with the gifts on a roll, there will be free cookies offered every day.
This is the second year that The Mail Drop will offer The Christmas Cottage, though they suspect it will be the last time in this location, as the building is for sale. Throughout the season, The Mail Drop happily continues to be a convenient location for shipping by FedEx, UPS, and USPS. They offer drop off and full service shipping and sell boxes, tape, bubblewrap and miscellaneous office supplies. They wanted to remind shippers that they only accept labels with barcodes, and their software cannot handle QR codes or Happy Returns. They are glad to copy, fax, scan, and email, as well, though they do not have Notary services.
A priority for the owners is to keep offerings high quality but affordable, and an astonishing 90% of the items for sale are $50 and under. There is even a room dedicated to clearance in The Christmas Cottage with amazing deals. All jewelry in that room and skinny scarves are $1.00; and cocktail and wine glasses are $5.00 each. Every other item in that room is 50% off and will shift to $1.00 each in the week before Christmas. Explore more about the shops at https://www.facebook.com/TheMailDropShop/, or call 203-546-7474, and head to both locations soon to mingle with your neighbors as you shop.
