Several dozen residents were present at the Annual Town Meeting to approve Saturday April 27 as the date for New Fairfield’s budget referendum. Voting is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. New Fairfield’s Board of Finance member Ms. Cheryl Reedy was chosen as moderator and she smoothly led the community members through the steps needed to agree upon a date.
New Fairfield residents will vote on the following:
To consider and act upon the appropriation of Town Government Expenditures totaling $14,105,707 from the General Fund, and $539,455 from the Capital and Non-Recurring Fund, and $2,499,112 from other Governmental Funds, as recommended by the Board of Finance, for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025.

To consider and act upon the appropriation of Education Expenditures totaling $55,071,776 from the General Fund, and $119,577 from the Capital and Non-Recurring Fund, as recommended by the Board of Finance, for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025.
There was a brief explanation about how to secure an absentee ballot, during which Town Clerk Ms. Holly Smith noted that she is available for extended hours in Town Hall in the days prior to the vote.
